Nigeria to raise nearly a billion dollars in naira Treasury bills

As part of efforts towards curbing waste, the Niger state government has said it would close multiple bank accounts of its revenue generating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Friday, August 19, 2016.

Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe, the state commissioner for finance disclosed this at a revenue stakeholders’ meeting in Minna today, August 16.

He stated that the measure would promote the transparency and accountability programme of the government.

He said: “The e-collection platform will consolidate our revenue drive in Niger state and bring all the revenue generating MDAs to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) pool.”

He explained that the state would work out an arrangement on the sharing formula of collected revenue among the MDAs and other arms.
